Varanasi, occasionally very nasty

Darshi was one hot, tired, unhappy camper.

I began my first battle with the lovely traveller’s diarrhea as soon as we arrived in Varanasi. After a very long and hot train ride in which I did not, thankfully, see any cockroaches.

I lay in bed for a long while, with my tummy rumbling. I finally threw up in the evening and the next few days were a write off.

Even though those couple of days were not a joy, I still found a profound love of India residing in my heart every morning when I woke up. I would look outside and see people bathing in the ghats alongside cow’s, dog’s and the occasional dead carcass.  India, as usual,  had it`s hooks in me before I stepped off the plane in Delhi.
