Tofino wedding photography is always beautiful—rain or shine, but lucky for Susie and Kevin ,on March 3, the sun shone so brightly it felt like a warm spring day! The expansive stretch of Tofino’s Cox Bay in front of the Long Beach Lodge proved to be the perfect backdrop for wedding photos. But if Susie and Kevin wanted all the glory in the wedding photographs of their special day, they really should not have invited so very many adorably photogenic kids to the show! I’m kidding, of course Susie and Kevin stole the show with their beaming-in-love shiny light. Their happiness radiates through the wedding photos taken at the pre-event dinner and on the gloriously sunny day of the wedding. Amazing fortune to get a day like this on Tofino’s ‘Wet Coast’ in late winter! The weather allowed us to get outside on Cox Bay beach and in the woods near Long Beach Lodge for a series of fun portraits and candids. Susie was a gorgeous bride, and in her hiked up white-lace gown sporting colourful gumboots, I just had to get her to spin around while I photographed every angle.
The very sweet ceremony in the Great Room at Long Beach Lodge may have been my favourite part of the day (I’m willing to guess it was Susie and Kevin’s favourite also!), and it elicited a pantheon of super-wide perma-grins and watery eyes. Myself included, but no one is surprised there. All of these smiles and tears added up to more great lens fodder as you will see.
Of course the reception was a blast, and of course the kids attempted to steal the show. (With only partial success—there is only so much room in one blog post! I could have put up so many more photos!). Kevin and Susie’s family and friends managed to avoid standard pressures to maintain decorum on the dance floor—especially Susie’s Dad and his cute-as-a-button grandson, (proof in pudding, see below).
A big thank you to the bride and groom for letting us share in your marvelous occasion, and giving us an opportunity to do one of the things we love best: Tofino wedding photography. Oh, and of course giving us yummy cookie batter to cook up and scarf on when we got home!
And then when we came home….. we made cookies!
